Lacoste

The Lacoste logo is one of the most noticeable, iconic designs in fashion. Lacoste’s green crocodile was designed for Frenchman René Lacoste the tennis player and founder of Lacoste in 1926 after he made a wager with the captain of his Davis cup team. Lacoste would receive a crocodile skin suitcase in exchange for winning an important game. This earnt him the nickname ‘the crocodile’ in the American Press. His friend Robert George drew him a crocodile design which was emblazoned on his tennis shirts and the design is still used in their garment today!
